On My Heart and Mind – A little levity in the middle of Lent
Jokes, dancing, karaoke and a table full of desserts… during Lent! It’s almost scandalous, what’s next, croquet? It’s February 29th, so Leap Day is here, which means “Leap Into Spring Talent Show” and I hope you’ll be part of the fun and fellowship as we get together tonight at 7:30pm in Halstead Hall.
There’s going to be great snacks and desserts, and you will not want to miss the acts of our own Andre Ferrara, Todd Rendle, Krista Gaffney, Coryn Porter, Ross Porter, Rose Eggleston, Elizabeth Eggleston, Sandy Gilotti, Art Covey, Doug Jenkins, Kirk Summers, and Ken and Judy Launhardt. And there’s still room on the bill for you to show your own talent (or at least take a shot at karaoke).
Having this much fun in the middle of Lent is not as scandalous as it sounds, rather it fits into an old tradition of Laetare Sunday, taking the middle weekend in Lent and offering a relief valve of jokes and joy. This is the spirit of “Leap in Spring.” I hope I will see you there, and I encourage you to bring a friend.
Peace, Pastor Matt.
